Mackinac Island is truly a community like no other, especially during the winter. Living on Mackinac Island comes with a unique set of challenges, especially when the lake freezes over and the boat stops running.  One way Mackinac Island comes together during the winter is in the hauling of groceries across the ice bridge. Locals know to expect a slight delay during the winter in the timing of deliveries and if the weather is especially bad, they know groceries may not arrive (which is a rare occurrence). This has become such a fun event for the community, during the off season. But don’t know what to do while on Mackinac Island?  Once we have snow on the ground, it’s a great time to hit the trails with your cross country skis or snowshoes.
